Data retention

Studies, sessions, boards and saved checks

Kept until their owner deletes them, from Your studies or the study's own page. Deleting one deletes everything in it: its setup, every answer, vote and question, a first-click test's screenshots, and everything on a board, pictures included. Nothing expires on its own yet. I may also delete ones that break the terms.

Data that goes on its own

The tools tidy these up as they run: each is cleared the next time a tidy-up runs after it reaches the age below, so on a quiet day it can take a little longer.

• notes and other items deleted from a board: a day after they are deleted
• pictures removed from a board, or uploaded and never placed: one to two days later, once nothing on any board shows them. The same goes for the preview pictures copied for link cards
• a first-click test's screenshots that were replaced, or uploaded and never saved: when the test is next saved, once they are an hour old
• who is on a board (name, animal, colour and cursor): a day after they leave
• the counters that stop people flooding a tool, which hold a one-way hash of browser details and internet address: an hour
• Murat AI's message counter: ten minutes, in the server's memory only

Messages to me

Contact form messages and emails stay in my inbox for as long as I need them to reply and keep track of the conversation. Ask, and I will delete them.

Murat AI and the Question Bias Check

The site keeps neither conversations, unsaved checks nor theme summaries. Your browser keeps your conversations until you clear them. Google may keep requests to its Gemini API for a limited time under its API terms, for example to detect abuse.

Analytics and logs

Google Analytics keeps event data for up to 14 months. Vercel keeps its analytics in aggregate, and its request logs for a short time.

In your browser

The access cookies last 30 days. The tip cards forget which cards you've seen when you close the tab, and hiding the tip cards lasts 7 days. The coffee card keeps the last 10 days you visited a page with the tip cards until you clear the site's data. Everything else the site keeps in your browser (your theme, conversations, studies' owner keys, board name and settings) stays until you clear the site's data.

Backups

The database host keeps a short restore window, so deleted data can stay in it for a little while before it is gone for good.

Tips

The payment service you use keeps its own records of a tip. I keep the records the law requires for tax.

Asking for deletion

Email itsmurat@gmail.com. There are no accounts, so tell me what to delete: the study or board link, or the email address you wrote from. If you took part in someone else's study, send the study link and roughly when you answered and what; your answers aren't tied to your name, so that is how I find them. I may ask you to confirm the request from the same address, and I will reply as soon as I reasonably can.
