Component library

Also calledUI kit, Pattern library

A collection of reusable interface building blocks, such as buttons, inputs and cards, available in design files and in code.

A component library is the most tangible part of a design system. Each component is designed once, built once and reused, so a change in one place updates every screen that uses it.

Smaller teams often start with a library maintained by the product designers. It becomes a full design system once it has guidance, governance and an owner.
