Product backlog

Also calledBacklog, Sprint backlog

The ordered list of work a team could do next, with the most valuable items at the top and ready to start.

A backlog holds user stories, bugs, technical work and experiments, ordered so the team always picks up the most valuable item next. Items near the top are small and well understood; items further down can stay rough.

Backlog refinement, sprint planning and reviews are the ceremonies around it. They keep the top of the backlog ready without the whole team spending its week in meetings.

Common mistake

A backlog that only grows. Hundreds of items nobody will reach hide the few that matter. Deleting old items is part of owning one.
