Product analyst

Also calledBusiness analyst, Product data analyst

An analyst who turns product data and requirements into decisions a squad can act on: metrics, analyses, user stories and the read-out of experiments.

Product analysts sit close to one or more squads. Depending on the company the role leans towards data (dashboards, funnels, experiment analysis) or towards requirements (user stories and acceptance criteria), and often covers both.

They are most valuable when pointed at the decisions a team has open right now, not at a queue of report requests.

Common mistake

Becoming a report factory for whoever asks loudest. Analysis that is not tied to an open decision rarely changes anything.
