Design and product work
Design QA
Also calledDesign QC, Design quality control, Build review, Design review of builds
Checking the built product against the design before it ships, to catch differences in layout, behaviour, content and states.
Design QA is the designer's pass over the real build. It catches the gap between the design and what was implemented: wrong spacing, a missing error state, a truncated label, an animation that was never added.
It is one of the cheapest ways to protect quality, because the issues are found before customers see them and while the engineer still has the context.
Common mistake
Skipping it under deadline pressure. Small mismatches pile up release after release, and the product drifts away from its own design system.
