Design and product work
Product discovery
Also calledDiscovery
The work of deciding what to build: understanding the problem, the people who have it and whether a solution is worth building, before committing engineering time.
Discovery answers four questions before delivery starts: is the problem real, will people use the solution, can they figure out how, and can we build and sustain it. It mixes research, data, prototypes and quick experiments.
It is the cheapest place to be wrong. Throwing away a prototype after a week costs far less than unwinding a feature after a quarter.
