Ideation
Also calledConcept exploration, Divergent thinking
Generating many possible solutions to a problem before choosing one, so the team is not stuck with the first idea that came up.
Ideation is the deliberately wide part of the design process: sketching, workshops, crazy eights, rough concepts and design explorations. The goal is range, not polish.
It works best with a clearly framed problem and a short time box. Exploring widely and then narrowing down tends to produce better answers than refining one idea from the start.
